NATALY + TYLER’s engagement session in OLD MONTREAL, QC

I am glad to report that I have been enjoying 30+ degree weather here in Hawaii, and figured I could post a summer engagement session to warm up all my friends who are braving the November cold back home.

I met Nataly and Tyler a while back. We had met over two years before their wedding date! I really love how I am able to build a relationship with my couples as we communicate before the big day. Nataly started following me on Instagram, and we actually began chatting about the photos/stories we were posting. Back then, Nataly was doing her residency in Quebec City, so my husband and I met up with her and Tyler when I went down for my hip surgery follow-ups. It is over delicious brunch at Chez Boulay that we talked about everything ranging from food, travels; and of course, their wedding.

Once the engagement session came around, we had already broken the ice so it was basically just hanging out with friends and taking their photos! We walked around Old Montreal, from the Gault Hotel all the way to the bike path near the Science Center. Since we already got along great, taking their photos was a breeze as they were not too intimidated in front of the camera.

It is always intimidating to have our photos taken, and I always warn my couples that the first few minutes may feel like torture. I also let them know that the outcome of their photos is really a team work. On my end, I must make sure I make the best of the light and how they are positioned, that the framing is not cluttered with curious tourists/cars/random garbage bins/etc, and that their body position is most flattering. On theirs, the sooner they let go and simply embrace the fact they are snuggling in public will make the photos look natural and full of love.

I will soon post the photos from their amazing wedding. Stay tuned! For now, I hope you enjoy the fun session we had earlier this summer!
