IOANNA + ANDREW’s wedding at Hotel William Gray in Montreal, QC

EEK! I haven’t updated my blog in such a long time! I had all the good intentions and wanted to post regularly throughout the wedding season, but then my schedule just became so busy! And here we are, the first day of the new year – better late than never, they say.

Today, I am sharing Ioanna and Andrew’s wedding. Their wedding was my first of the year, and what a wonderful way to get things started! I was so excited for this day, as it was not my first time photographing beautiful life events in this family.

The second I walked in to document Ioanna’s getting ready, I was greeted with friendly, familiar faces, and immediately, I felt so incredibly welcomed. Ioanna’s dad gave me a big hug and said how happy he was to have me shooting his daughter’s wedding. And then I saw Ioanna, whose smile instantly lights up a room. I couldn’t ask for a better start to my day!

Although we did not have that much time for the first look and couple portraits, we were to make the most of Hotel William Grey’s surrounding areas, which include all the stunning Old Montréal elements such as cobblestone streets and European-style buildings. I also was very lucky to have help from Kim – not only because she is an extremely talented photographer, but also because she is one of my closest friends!

I must also say that I love shooting at William Gray. The location just works so wonderfully for weddings (this is not an ad by the way). The lobby, with the white marble staircase and modern suspended lighting, is the perfect backdrop for portraits. The second-floor terrasse looks great for family and/or bridal party photos, and the rooftop offers some of the best views of Montreal for all the guests to enjoy. On a warm summer day, the delicious Aperol spritz’s were more than welcome! I say delicious because Ioanna’s dad insisted that Kim and I take a break to enjoy the cocktail hour, I mean, I can’t say no to the bride is dad, right?

Ioanna and Andrew were so beautiful together, and it was such a treat for us to document their wedding. Ioanna had the biggest smile throughout the entire day, and Andrew constantly looked at his bride, completely in love and in awe with the woman he was marrying.

I was a bit sad when the day ended, as I just had such a great day capturing all the joy and happiness shared between the couple, as well as all the guests. Plus, we had such a blast working with one of our favourite videographers in the city – Mark from VillaView. Working with Mark is always so easy, as we both share the same documentary approach, and because we both want to work together in order to offer our best work for our couples.

All in all, it was a perfect, wonderful day, and I could not ask for a better start to my 2019 season!
